Civic education (also known as citizen education or democracy education) can be broadly defined as the provision of information and learning experiences to equip and empower citizens to participate in democratic processes.

Human rights education (HRE) is the learning process that seeks to buildup knowledge, values, and proficiency in the rights that each person is entitled to. According to Amnesty International, HRE is a way to empower people, training them so their skills and behaviors will promote dignity and equality within their communities, societies, and throughout the world.

The main goals of climate education include building a sustainable future, inspiring action and practicing influencing skills at the social and personal levels. It is imperative not only to learn to understand climate change in-depth but also to change one’s own behaviour and actions.

Cultural education consists in the development of all arts and heritage forms (music, language, literature, etc.). It contributes to knowledge transfer, personal development and participation in society. Cultural education enables people to discover ways of learning and communicating which are respectful to themselves and others. It promotes historical awareness, contributes to understanding individual identities and encourages creative, inquisitive attitudes that can benefit them throughout their lives.
